Alkagesta has received an EcoVadis Committed Badge in recognition of its approach to responsible and sustainable business practices across its international trading activities, according to a statement published by Alkagesta Media. The company presented the award as part of its efforts to integrate those practices into its operations and as a basis for further improvements.
The statement describes EcoVadis as a provider of business sustainability ratings whose assessments cover four areas: the environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Its evidence-based process examines companies’ policies, reporting and transparency against internationally recognised sustainability standards. Alkagesta said the badge reflected its performance against those criteria, while offering a framework through which it could continue to improve its practices.
Alkagesta Media placed the recognition alongside the trader’s broader environmental, social and governance commitments. These include ISCC and CORSIA certification for its sustainable aviation fuel trading activities, as well as access to EU ETS allowances. The statement also cited continued investment in environmental research initiatives, identifying the Clean Caspian startup as an example of that work.
Chief executive Orkhan Rustamov said the badge reflected efforts to make responsible business conduct part of Alkagesta’s everyday operations rather than a standalone programme. He linked that approach to the company’s role in trading commodities central to the global economy, saying integrity and transparency were responsibilities it took seriously. Rustamov also said the company intended to keep improving its standards across the areas measured by EcoVadis.
The announcement did not disclose an assessment score or give a breakdown of Alkagesta’s results across the four assessment areas. Its account focused instead on the recognition and the company’s stated plans for continued improvement, with Rustamov characterising the badge as a starting point for further work.
